Social media is the fastest growing trend in the history of the world and it’s still growing. One in six people use social media, including your potential customers. In this blog I will cover some ways to use social media to attract customers.

In 2019 there are so many social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Snapchat, and I could keep going. Each social media platform is different, but with tailored content and some social media marketing you can create user engagement and buzz that can transfer to customers. If your content is engaging enough people will share it with their friends, which makes your brand grow! Here’s some examples of different types of content and the best platforms to utilize them:


Text: Many platforms utilize text in some way, some more than others. There are so many options when creating a text post from short and sweet to full length blogs. The amount of text and what you have to say should be suited to the platform and your audience. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn are ideal platforms for marketing text posts.


Photo: Depending on the platform photos can be something extra to add or it can be the entire post. The old saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” is completely true in terms of marketing, humans are predisposed to having strong reactions to visual cues like a photo, which means photos of products and services almost always create buzz. Platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook are ideal platforms for marketing photo posts.


Video: Video is the most consumed content on the internet, studies show videos show a 14% engagement increase compared to other types of content. Videos are great to show your services or products, to create hype for an upcoming event, or even just as a way to create attention and build your followers. YouTube is the second most popular search engine in the world, and even helps you pop up in other traditional search engines. Platforms like YouTube, Snapchat, and Facebook are ideal platforms for marketing video posts.


Hashtags: Hashtags can be extremely effective on certain platforms. You have some options when it comes to hashtags. If you’re looking to garner attention it’s important to use effective hashtags that not only pertain to the photo, but your business, and utilize a high number of users. Another option with hashtags is using a custom hashtag, for example “Keith’s Couch Store” might create the hashtag #kiethscouches which can be used not only for their own marketing but also a place customers could share photos and information on the product. Platforms like Instagram and Twitter are ideal platforms for marketing using hashtags.
